SECURITY HARDWARE FOR DELICATE ONLINE TRANSACTIONS

Kobil’s general sign-platform ensure security, confidentiality and data integrity for online business transactions

The Worms based company KOBIL Systems, specialised in online security, is launching a mobile platform for secure internet transactions with the innovative sign-series. Users of the digital hardware solution, which is initially available in three model versions, can make transactions of all kinds independently of smartphones, desktops, operating systems or networks via a secure Internet access and confirm them comfortably with one click. Even your own, sensitive applications can be integrated into the system. An independent security channel and a trusted server protects the entire communication environment.

The cases of data piracy, malware attacks, and security holes in mobile business are growing rapidly. With the Kobil sign devices all online activities, especially signed transactions such as money transfers, travel bookings or the conclusion of insurance by private individuals or professional users, such as public authorities, banks, insurance companies or health insurances, with the highest level of data security, authenticity and confidentiality can be made.

The handy security hardware has only two buttons (red and green) and the touch screen to confirm transactions. When the transaction is sent to the user for confirmation, it signs in via its signPod, verifies the transaction and releases it by clicking the button.

“Any kind of sensitive online transactions can be realised with the three sign models signDot, signPod and signPad and their integrated Internet access with a high level of comfort,” says Ismet Koyun, Managing Director of Kobil Systems GmbH. “With this platform, we are also pioneering the upcoming call for strong customer authentication, as required by SCA (Strong Customer Authentification), to reduce the risk of fraud”.

A highly secure communication environment between the protected app and the dedicated security server protects and controls the user identification. At the first activation, as well as every time the app is started, Kobil’s security server performs a series of remote checks on the protected solutions. Among other things, it checks whether the mobile app really runs on the originally registered device, such as smartphone, tablet or desktop, or has been copied to another device. These controls and protections prevent access from fake apps to online services or converted original apps.

Starting in October, Kobil will introduce the three new models, which can be purchased in any local bank branch. The products are unique on the current market, due to their ease of use, high security and maximum flexibility, thy complement conventional mobile devices in security-related communication without replacing smartphones. In particular, it appeals to users who, for safety reasons, do not want to use a smartphone or are not allowed to use it in the corporate environment.

The convenient, user-friendly hardware solution in the signDot version is smaller and more compact than a smartphone. Like signPodand signPad, it provides the highest security through a recessed operating system (OS) via the app. The communication is ensured by a specially developed hardware and its own internet channel with its own, special data connection via the IoT (Internet of Things) technology. Thanks to the APN network, users are not charged roaming fees and neither SIM cards nor an internet contract is necessary. In combination with a 7-layer-of-security, the highest safty standard is offered.

“The integrated OS software and protected channel shields the user from third party fishing and attacks. In addition, the identity of the customer, including the digital terminal is secured. The devices are flexible, multilingual and multi-user and multi-banking capable, “says Koyun.

The three models are distinguished by different dimensions and functions: the signDot is compact and has a two-line colour display with confirmation buttons for operation, while the signPod can display transaction details with a coloured 2.8-inch multi-touch display; and the signPad, as a tablet version, is equipped with a 7.9-inch colour-touchscreen to display PDF or whole banking transactions. It also includes a signPen with confirmation buttons. All compact, non-opening cases use a USB-C port to charge the battery. The confirmation of transactions via the three buttons (Power, OK, Cancel). A mini camera is integrated to record QR codes.
