Highest security criteria and signed payments
Secure solutions for the transfer of money with digital identity, authentication and payment signing are today the most important demands for online banking. Kobil Systems GmbH, based in Worms, Germany, offers a modern method for authentication with the highest security standards for e-banking, which enables customers to handle their banking transactions digitally and securely. These were also the criteria for which reason Berner Kantonalbank (BEKB) opted for e-banking solution from Germany.
All the advantages of a modern security solution such as confidentiality, multi-factor authentication and a secure end-to-end data connection were used to utilise this. The security measures taken, ensure high protection of e-banking against attacks and prevent abusive access. Required for the conversion was a multi-platform solution that supports mobile devices with the operating systems iOS and Android. One of the security measures was that in addition to the overall performance that had to be provided, the required app operates.
The overall time from starting the project to the introduction took about 12 months. All participating partners worked most reliably together. With the “BEKB smartLogin” developed from Worms, the user now has a secure, comfortable and fast procedure for logging into the bank’s e-banking as well as for signing payments. The process works based on the separate app which the user installes on their smartphone or tablet. To be able to use the “BEKB smartLogin”, a registration of the used terminal in the e-banking account of the bank is required.
“Today,” said Yves Reber, e-banking officer at BEKB, “almost half of our e-banking customers use the convenient authentication solution via the developed app. The conversion from the old methods to the BEKB smartLogin solution has been successful and is now (as of the end of May 2019) for a good seven months to our satisfaction. Furthermore, based on the experience gained so far and the customer feedback, together with Kobil we are continuously optimising the new process. »
