Boxing superstar Amir Khan has swapped trading blows for talking about trading bonds and commodities at a conference with online financial trading broker ThinkMarkets today.
Khan, who is set to fight former world champion Manny Pacquiao, works with ThinkMarkets through a collaborative ‘Ring the Changes’ partnership, which plans to provide support and opportunities for under-privileged young people across the UK.
Speaking at The Great Financial Trading Conference, hosted by ThinkMarkets, he gave financial traders advice on strategy, planning and dealing with challenges that can be adopted in the boxing ring or trading room.
Amir Khan said: “Working with ThinkMarkets has been very different to anything I’ve done before and it was fascinating to meet some of the best traders in the City to find out what makes them tick.
“My ‘Ring the Changes’ initiative with ThinkMarkets will have an impact on youth crime and disenfranchisement and make a real difference but it was great to talk about strategy and planning with some great minds attending The ThinkMarkets Great Financial Trading Conference.”
Faizan Anees, co-founder of ThinkMarkets, said: “Amir Khan is one of the most high-profile boxers in the world and it was an honour for him to attend our conference despite his busy schedule.
“Our delegates are at the top of their game and I am sure that Amir learnt something from them as much as they learnt some great insights during his talk.”
Khan’s partnership with ThinkMarkets is the first of its kind, with ThinkMarkets becoming the first UK broker to sponsor a professional boxer.
Earlier this year, ThinkMarkets announced another sporting partnership, with legendary Australian fast bowler Glenn McGrath supporting young people in Australia and the UK.
